About

The Catholic Daughters of the Americas began in Nevada with the institution of Court Ave Maria at St. Anne Catholic Church in 1946. The Court celebrated its 70th anniversary in 2016. Many of early Nevada’s most prominent Catholic women were instrumental in the growth of the presence of Catholic Daughters in the state. June Hermann was especially responsible for establishing the State Court in 1974.  Currently there are four active local courts with a total membership of nearly 200.

Catholic women, 18 and over are invited to join a local court and may join a court even if not registered with the parish where the local court is based. The Catholic Daughters of the Americas in Nevada is an organization that promotes the value of service, opportunities to develop a deeper spirituality and offers members the joy of being with other Catholic women who work together, play together and most importantly pray together.

Social and fund raising events are held throughout the year by each local court, but three times a year the State Court hosts events which bring members together; National CDA Day in October, an annual Christmas Party and Baby Shower (which benefits the Women’s Resource Center) and the yearly mini Lenten Retreat called the Day of Recollection. Visit this site often to see announcements regarding these events or watch your local parish bulletin for notices regarding the date, time and place for all events.
